I didn't have any reason or need for the CBOX until something odd happened to me at level 4. I felt I was having browser issues, so I asked if this was happening to anyone else. But, it seemed that everyone else could move on to level 5 just fine(having the correct username and password to input). There was a directive to put "z4" instead of "4" in the username box. Fine, no biggie...

However, I am 99.9% sure that I had the correct password, but since I never get past the redirect page, I just grew more and more frustrated. After a 3rd attempt in the password box, it redirects to a page prompting me to change the url. Fine, no biggie...
Retype z4, then the password(which I'm happy to share that password with a moderator or Tim himself) but I still did not have success.

No one in the chatbox had such issues, and continually aske dme, are you sure you are typing the right password? So I was fed up with that silly game, and went to more drastic measures and it got me banned.

I just want to get to levle 5 and continue, but browser issues led to frustration and subsequent ban... Can someone out there help?

As I explained, you were banned from Cbox because you knowingly and willingly broke the rules. Getting fed up is not a valid excuse.

why was there no admin support on a technical matter?

at the very least, that is the basis of my frustration. i am still opposed to the ban, i just wanted an answer to the issue.

i can always find another ip address, thats not the issue. in fact, knowing about this bug helps out! surely there is an accommodation that can be reached...

youll need to go to tim either way now mumbles.
explain to him and see what he says.

though i will add that it was not a technical issue as far as i could tell.
you either had the answer wrong, or you had the username wrong.

i explained earlier if you were on the ttttoday url, then the username is z4. if you werent then it was just 4.
you said you were on the z4 one, and thus yr answer was wrong.
there is no need for admin support to resolve this, just a correct answer, but as youve posted an answer on cbox, you will have to ask tim to resolve this matter as we can help you no further

I agree with Clark.

Z4 is the username and so there must be a problem with the password as opposed to your browser. well thats the more likely case. Theres no reason to get worked up over it and cause a scene when people are only trying to help and although i wasn't there during the incident i trust fellow mods decisions.

You also claim there are no admins to help with the problems. We have PMOs for each level that you can message and then they will be able to tell you if the username/password is wrong and hint towards how to resolve the problem.

How long was the ban for? Unless is was permenant then youre welcome back to cbox after the duration of the ban with a clean sheet. If it was then talking to tim via PM would be the only form of action if you would like to use cbox.

I also get multiple pop-ups asking me to input the previous level's answer, followed by multiple pop-ups asking me to re-enter the current level's answer as well.

I got no answer to this issue, which is a browser related issue...

Also, I haven't heard anyone getting the redirect page that it always brings me to after I've entered my username and password.

By the way, it was a "permaban" for that. But honestly, I can live without the CBOX, I only used it as an avenue to resolve my browser issue lol. So, in the event that I may have the wrong password, I still would like to have the pop-up thing explained... (1 pop-up is basic in design, the second type of pop-up is different in looks altogether...) Is anyone else getting this?

As one of the PMOs for levels 1-20, you could have easily sent a PM to me (or really any moderator) with what you were doing, and what was happening, and just resolved this issue altogether.

Occasionally, if you've solved levels, and then left and come back, your browser's cache will still hold information about the password boxes you've entered information in previously. What can happen then, is the information stored conflicts with you trying to enter in the password box in order to get back to your level, and the box will pop up (often for the previous level) 3-5 times. To correct this, you can clear your cache, switch browsers, or sometimes just close the current window and reopen another.

From what I saw, you knowingly attempted to spoil an answer, after saying yourself that you shouldn't. As for a redirect page, I'm still not sure what exactly you mean by this. Can you take a screenshot of what's happening, and send it to me, or to Tim? If you had checked the threads here, a few other people have had similar issues, and the replys are generally helpful. If yours is a completely new issue, then the best course of action would have been to either start a topic and see if anyone has a solution, or to send Tim a message, because only he has control over the internal workings of the test. Getting frustrated and posting answers in cbox isn't an acceptable way to fix an issue, and will only make it more difficult to solve the problem.

Thanks Jstein

The redirect is what I believe is the Error401 page, but that only happens when you have an incorrect answer.(If this is not the case then I hope that can be clarified) Smiley I could still take a screenshot of that... but I sense it answers the question of itself.

I did go about it the wrong way, but I was accused of using a spoiler site! I used no outside information to cheat and never have since I tried the original one 4 years ago.

As I said before, I didn't have any reason to use the CBOX until this situation, so if that ban is a permaban then I don't see much loss as it was only a means of faster resolution to fixing the issue. However, that proved to be somewhat of a fallacy in the sense that I had to censor everything and communication was not getting through... Yes, it's possible to communicate via CBOX. But the kind of communication I needed was more bearing, which I can only get via pm with pmo...

Anyway, I truly enjoy doing the TTT using just my own "a-ha!" moments so the CBOX is not so important as long as these multiple pop-ups go away. Jstein, thanks for the browser tips, I still don't know why 2 different looking password boxes appear... Am I alone on seeing them?

The error 401 page is just what shows when you enter the wrong username/password.

Has the test been around for 4 years yet? That said, it's usually only when people are using spoiler sites that they are accused of doing so. If you really haven't been, you shouldn't have to worry, as Tim has ways of knowing these things. Wink

In this case, I'm going to say the best choice would have been to PM someone. Yes, cbox is there for help, but some issues can't be met there, and require PMing. That's the whole reason there are PMOs and moderators.

No, you're not alone in seeing them. This thread is another example of someone experiencing this problem: http://timtang.com/forum/index.php?topic=599.0
I've had it happen to me before, in which case I can usually close the window and re-open it and it'll stop.

It was definitely browser issues.

I had 2 separate pop-up boxes when I clicked the mouse-over. 1 that had no realm clue, it was a Windows-styled security box. Then, when I got to the next level, the other pop-up appears asking me what the level number and answer was of the PREVIOUS level! In which it gives me the realm clue of the previous level. That is something you might want to look into. It might be a safe-guard that Windows 7 may use, but it did not display the REALM clue for my current level, which is obviously an important piece of the puzzle. So, I downloaded Firefox and for the moment, I am seeing what everyone else sees.

Unfortunately for me, I am still stuck on LVL 4 lol. What a doosey so early on... I wonder how many people just said, "The heck with this" and moved on to other things without getting hooked. Seriously though, 1 2 and 3 were relatively on the same difficulty plane and then 4 goes off the charts with it's vague, unattached train of thought.

Anyway, till I figure it out... This will be my last post on this thread.
